Today one of our favorite rappers, Dwayne Carter aka Lil Wayne bka Weezy, turns himself into prison to serve a 1 year sentence at Rikers Island in New York. In July of 2007 Wayne was arrested on charges of gun-possesion. Last night Wayne gave a 30-minute farewell to his beloved fans live on Ustream. In the video he talked about his farewell party, held this past Sunday at Club Dolce in Miami, going to jail, Rebirth, and his work schedule. "This is history," Wayne said, referring to the Ustream video as the last time we would see him for a long time.
During the video Weezy received many visits and phone calls from celebrities, including J.R. Smith of the Nuggets and Drake, who he told to "hold that shit down." Wayne also crushed the rumor of him having to cut his dreads, saying "That's a stupid rumor. Look at this beautiful shit." It is apparent from the video that this man can NOT be held down. He is entering a year of imprisonment and continues to joke around and be the blunt free-spirited, free-willed person we know him to be. I don't know about y'all, but I can't wait to hear his new shit after he does this time.
